Special Rule
Lore of the Horned Rat:

A Wizard with the ‘Lore of the Horned Rat’ special rule may discard one of their randomly generated spells as normal. When they do so, they may select instead either the signature spell of their chosen Lore of Magic, or one of the spells listed below: • Skitterleap Renegades • Warp Lightning Renegades • Cloud Of Corruption Renegades

Magical Attacks:

Any attack made or hit caused by a model with this special rule, or made using a weapon with this special rule, is a ‘Magical’ attack.

Note that all spells are considered to have this special rule, as are any hits caused by magic items.

Magic Resistance:

The Casting roll of any enemy spell (including Bound Spells) that targets a unit that includes one or more models with this special rule suffers a modifier, as shown in brackets after the name of this special rule (-X).

Note that this special rule is not cumulative. If two or more models in a unit have this special rule, use the highest modifier.

Scurry Away:

Models with this special rule have a +1 modifier to the result of any Flee roll they make.

Verminous Valour:

A model with this special rule may voluntarily ‘retire’ (“Too Many Characters,” Rulebook, p.209) during the Combat Phase. In order to do so the model must: • Be joined to a unit that has a Unit Strength of 10 or more.  • Not be part of a Challenge.  • Not be subject to “Nowhere to Run” (Rulebook, p.211).  • Be able to be placed inside the unit outside of all fighting ranks. • Do so before any attacks are allocated and resolved for the current initiative step of a combat that they are in.  Should a model ‘retire’ in this way the unit may still use this character's Leadership. All other restrictions for retiring apply.

In subsequent turns, if this model’s unit remains engaged in combat with the same enemy unit, a model with this rule may move through the ranks and join any fighting rank before challenges are issued during step 1.1 of the “Choose Combat & Fight Phase” (“Characters in Combat,” Rulebook p.209.)

If at any time there is nowhere to place a ‘retired’ model outside of a fighting rank they must immediately move through the ranks and take a position in the front row of a fighting rank. They may not make any attacks in this round of combat but they may have attacks directed against them.

Warband:

Unless it is fleeing, a Warband gains a positive (+) modifier to its Leadership characteristic equal to its current Rank Bonus, up to a maximum of Leadership 10.However, a Warband cannot use this modifier to its Leadership should it ever choose to make a Restraint test or, if it is Impetuous, when testing to see if it must declare a charge or may act as normal. In addition, if the majority of the models in a unit have this special rule, it may re-roll its Charge roll.

Note that unless a character also has this special rule, their Leadership cannot be modified by this special rule. A Warband can use either its own modified Leadership, the modified Leadership of a Warband character, or the unmodified Leadership of a non-Warband character, whichever is the higher.

Warpstone Weapons:

A hand weapon carried by a model with this special rule has the Magical Attacks special rule and an Armour Piercing characteristic of -1.

Note that this special rule only applies to a single, ordinary hand weapon. If the model is using two hand weapons or any other sort of weapon, this special rule ceases to apply.
