New features and fixes in New Recruit, month by month.
September 2026
Warhammer 40,000
Deployment Planner (11th edition): place your army on the official deployment maps with base-to-base line of sight, two tiers of blocking terrain and live visibility shading while you drag. Ctrl+drag box-selects models across units.
Every 11th edition datasheet now has a base size, used by the Deployment Planner.
Guided list creation: faction, game mode, battle size, detachment, force disposition and name, step by step, with a preview of the mission matchups and of the detachment rules.
Lists exported as text from the official GW app can be pasted back in.
Game reports have a free-text comment field, shown below the report.
The 10th edition stratagems export template uses the NR phase icons.
The 9th Age
Game assistant rebuilt: a Battle Setup step (roll-off, Season 2 secondaries, Spell Swapping), player turns, a Magic Phase that generates its own dice with the Miscast table, one Flux deck draw per turn, deployment reminders and limited-use items ticked directly from the Turn page.
Text import and export round-trip cleanly: options match regardless of their order, enchant and rune groups are handled, and an option the dataset forbids is explained with the dataset's own wording.
Army builder
Create-list dialog: name first, touch-friendly faction cards, and the last configuration pick creates the list.
The auto-hidden left panel keeps its state across a page refresh.
Importing a shared list no longer brings the sharer's folder, and a copy no longer carries the original's folder and play state.
Unit search has a clear button.
Fixed the model count missing on led units, and a selection now follows the category changes of every ancestor entry (fixes 2-leader Kroot Carnivores and similar).
Game assistant
Connected games: each seat keeps its own perspective, missing saves were recovered and room sync is more reliable.
Interface
The language picker shows every language in its own name.
A status line under the loading spinner says what the app is waiting for.
Reliability & performance
Fixed a blank page on some browsers where the layout collapsed to zero height.
Cached files from older builds are evicted, so an update no longer mixes old and new code.
August 2026
Import & export
New text import dialog with a live preview of what could and could not be read. It reads lists from the GW app, WTC/tournament exports, community formats and hand-written lists, in every language NR supports, and restores leader attachments.
Text import works for every game system, not only 40k.
Paste a share link, a list id or a roster file straight into the import box.
Export dialog redesigned: split view with live preview on desktop, compact sheet on mobile, per-block copy buttons for Discord, the format remembered per system, and a share sheet on mobile.
Pretty export shows stratagems on cards; click a profile to cross it out and drop it from print.
Fixed: Warscroll export, glued model lines in the Tournament format, card export hanging, crusade force names, 40k leader attachments and constant wargear lines.
Army builder
Leaders attach through the catalogue's own associations; attached units can stay in their own category, and the combined leader view is available in play mode.
Swipe gestures on unit rows: duplicate, delete, and unlink an attached leader.
My Lists groups 11th edition lists by Force Disposition.
Create list: tappable force rows, a floating create button on mobile, and a preview eye on each force.
NR asks before opening a pinned list with a newer cached book instead of switching silently.
Fixed: attached leaders shown twice in build mode, custom view crash in play mode, the min/max buttons crashing on a rejected change, the sticky roster header on mobile, dark mode inline rename boxes and the notes cursor jumping.
Warhammer 40,000
Missions: a dropdown on the Force Disposition entry, every primary and secondary mission card refreshed against the live cards, rule preambles and keywords highlighted, mutually exclusive scoring bands marked.
The fixed-secondary picker previews the mission cards.
Game assistant: own phase icons, a phase selector and one-tap access to the list.
Primary scoring capped at 15 VP per round and 45 VP per game; stratagems are shared both ways between an attached leader and its unit.
Tournaments
ELO pairings algorithm for the first round.
CEIL and FLOOR operations in automatic score calculation.
Visibility and the online flag can be edited after results exist.
A wrong team password on signup now shows a proper message.
Tighter privacy on tournament and list visibility.
Game assistant
The wound counter can be turned into a model counter.
Bigger wound +/- touch targets on mobile.
Fixed: blank page or stuck loading on a direct game URL, a seasonless 40k game freezing the assistant, the dots menu floating over popups, and the mission scoring checkboxes on wide phones.
Mobile & offline
The app starts from its local cache right away and syncs with the server behind; edits made offline are sent on reconnect.
An expired session is announced and your edits stay local instead of failing silently.
Offline install no longer aborts on a single failed file, and persistent storage is requested so the browser does not evict your data.
The builder no longer rescans the whole roster on every edit.
Navigation hardened against third-party scripts; dead navigation buttons and a stuck offline badge on flaky connections fixed.
Safari below 16.4 works again.
Wiki
Exact-match crusade filter and a fix for pages that rendered twice.
July 2026
Interface
New logo, app icons and splash screens, with a dark-mode variant.
The whole icon set redrawn as vector icons that follow your theme and stay crisp on any screen.
Desktop sub-unit stepper and options menu redesigned; identical sub-unit stacks can be combined in one action.
Country flags render everywhere, including Chrome on Windows.
Padding and safe areas reworked for the installed app; your theme only applies inside the app, not on the public pages.
The 9th Age
New 9th Age dataset: category indicators, per-model profiles, exclusive-selection profiles, spells, icons, and text export/import in the legacy format.
Game assistant on its own pages, first pass of the 3.0 rules.
Army builder
Add-force dialog grouped by faction.
Quick-install links: /app/install/<system> installs a game system in one step.
11th edition: any character can be a leader candidate.
Fixed sub-unit split and delete propagation, and several auto-check regressions.
Warhammer 40,000
Stratagems: 11th edition template enabled, faction stratagems with the same name in different detachments kept apart, dark mode backgrounds fixed.
Export includes the force disposition; the battlefield divider follows the real deployment split.
Tournaments
Team tournaments show the number of teams and players.
Flags before country names in dropdowns.
Wiki
Home page translated in 14 languages; wiki pages have their own titles, render markdown and open directly in the builder.
Mobile & offline
Android: older phones supported again (Android 6+), splash fills the screen on Android 12+.
June 2026
Warhammer 40,000
11th edition game assistant: mission data, faction icons, per-player primary mission, multiple detachments, secondaries regrouped on one page.
"Copy to 11th" buttons on 10th edition lists, with a stratagem filter.
Game assistant
Connected games: both players' assistants stay in sync during a game, for 40k and The 9th Age.
Player setup reacts immediately to changes.
Army builder
Leaders generalised to every game system that declares them.
Association candidates show the distinguishing wargear in bold, with compact rows on mobile.
Force options are included in exports; forces are hidden in play mode.
Fixed costs background not following the theme, and rule ids with accents.
Import & export
A classic fantasy print template, contributed by the community.
Profile tables fixed in the crusade export.
Mobile & offline
Lists and games move to a faster, sturdier local database on mobile; the old one is deleted to free storage.
May 2026
Game assistant
Wound counter shown on models, and reflected in the model export.
Random challenger card.
Maximum points field on missions.
Army builder
An infinite constraint loop is detected and cut short instead of freezing the list (Age of Sigmar).
Exports find the points cost by type, so points work in translated catalogues.
New catalogues added to a GitHub system are always kept.
The 9th Age
Weapons auto-selected when adding an entry; constant options no longer exported; rarity fixed.
Mobile & offline
Supporter features work offline.
Android uses the native directory picker.
Interface
Bug report form includes the details needed for stratagem reports; sizes account for the safe area.
April 2026
Army builder
Leaders: a setting to allow leaders in 40k 10th edition, a dead leader no longer affects its unit, associations kept with presets, clearer association errors.
Reset Wounds option in the List Options menu and in the game assistant.
Nested entries get a slight background; very large groups auto-collapse again; the parent entry name is gone from rows to save space.
Rule comparison shows the source entry name when it differs.
Autocorrect disabled on notes.
Tournaments
Option to show only the captain's email address.
Team list validation fixed; the list icon is hidden for extras.
Season loading order fixed.
Import & export
A warning when an export has no unit because a force is not exportable.
Pretty points match more loosely, so it works for Horus Heresy.
Interface
Menu resize fixed; children showing on mobile fixed; borders in My Systems fixed; game assistant menu respects the safe area.
Install link on the add-GitHub-system screen.
Reliability & performance
Security fixes.
March 2026
Army builder
Favourites become presets, with a default preset.
Leader improvements and fixes; custom constraint errors attached to the right unit.
Keyword links fixed; a memory leak fixed; smoother reactivity.
Warhammer 40,000
Stratagem matching is more generic, falling back to the detachment's stratagems.
Scored missions are auto-discarded in the game assistant.
The 9th Age
Spell numbers added when missing; rune combinations fixed.
