Miscast Table

(Rule)
Description: A Casting Roll for a Learned Spell can result in a Miscast if the following conditions are all met:

  • Three-of-a-Kind or Two-of-a-Kind: It includes three or more Magic Dice that rolled the same result. If the Casting Attempt was made with only two Magic Dice, then it is sufficient for both of them to roll the same result.

  • Successful: The Casting Roll is successful and the spell is not dispelled.

The effect of the Miscast is dependent on the total sum of the Casting Roll (including potential modifiers). Apply the effects that correspond to the total rolled.

Klepa tells you a story, everyone knows it where we’re from, absolootelly true tale, no extra charge. Once upon times, there’s a wizard. Very powerful, very scary. Eats poor honest goblins for snacks, probably. No other wizard could do anything about him. In every battle he munches up armies with big, dreadfullest spells.
One day he decides to visit special lovely Garden of law-biding goblins. He wants to burn up happy home with fireballs. Everyone in big panic, running around, bumping into things. But one goblin, faverit of cunning Karuka, she pays a visit to the mean old wizard the night before he comes. He’s much too strong to fight straight-on, so she sneaks into his tower and hides in the cupboard.
And when he tries to make himself some toast for dinner with a baby fireball, she nudges the spell, just a little, so it fizzies away. And when he heats his water for a bath, she sends the magic off, so he has to wash cold. When he makes the broom come to life to clean his chamber, she makes it stumble and fall down. Madder and madder, finally he tries biggest spell he knows. Clever goblin lets it go, and the magic shakes the whole tower into rubble, with the nasty wizard inside, squished. And the goblins lived happily ever after, the end.

Some players prefer to know their odds before casting spells. Below are the probabilities for the most common casting values in the game. Recommended target probability to optimise the number of dice used in a typical Magic Phase is around 80-90%.
