Spell Type

(Rule)
Description: The spell type specifies how the target of the spell is chosen. A spell can have one or more of the following spell Types.

  • Augment: Can only target friendly units, or friendly models within units if Focused.

  • Aura: Targets all eligible targets. For example, a spell with Augment, Aura, and Range 12" targets all friendly units within 12" of the Caster.

  • Caster: Can only target the model casting the spell.

  • Damage: Can only target units not Engaged in Combat.

  • Focused: Can only target single models, including Attachable Models inside units. If a model consisting of multiple model parts is targeted, only one part can be chosen.

  • Ground: The spell targets a point on the Battlefield rather than units or models.

  • Hex: Can only target enemy units, or enemy models within units if Focused.

  • Missile: Can only target units within the Caster's Line of Sight. It cannot be cast if the Caster is Engaged in Combat. When casting a spell with Type: Missile, check which is the Target Facing (see Shooting Phase chapter).

  • Range X": The spell has a maximum casting range. Targets must be within X" of the Caster.

  • Universal: The spell can target both friendly and enemy units, or models within units if Focused.
