Duration of Effects

(Rule)
Description: Certain abilities may provide time-limited additional effects to models. The following key-words are used to denote durations of such effects.

  • Instant: The effects are applied once, and then immediately end.

  • One Turn: The effects last until the start of the same Phase as when the effects were applied, of the same player. For example, if the effect was applied in a Magic Phase, the effects end in the next Magic Phase of the same player.

  • Permanent: The effects last until the end of the game or until a specific condition is met as described in the rule's effects.

  • One use only: These effects can only be used once per game. Each One Use Only effect will describe when it can be used, and how long it lasts.

Dividing or Combining Units

Sometimes units affected by effects with extended durations (such as One Turn or Permanent) are divided into multiple units. The most common example of this is when an Attachable Model is leaving its unit. When this happens, each of these elements retains the effects for the given duration.

Attachable Models joining already affected units, or units joined by already affected Attachable Models, are not affected themselves.

Simultaneous effects

When multiple effects occur at the same time, the Active Player resolves their effects first. Before the first Player Turn, the Defender is considered the Active Player. Each player decides the order in which they resolve their own simultaneous effects.
